James has over 20 years’ rail industry experience specialising in the design, manufacture and maintenance of rolling stock. His commercial, technical and manufacturing background has enabled him to develop a broad range of skills and experience from business case planning and feasibility studies through to rolling stock design, depot design, service introduction and maintenance implementation.
James has an in depth understanding of rolling stock procurement from a customer perspective and provision of rolling stock and maintenance services as a supplier. He has key competences in structuring, tendering and negotiating building contracts for the construction and upgrade of rolling stock maintenance and stabling facilities, bid management and tender evaluation. He has delivered several significant rolling stock bids for the supply of trains, maintenance services and depot construction.
